I attended TechExpo in Auckland over the weekend. I have a new keyboard. It’s mechanical. Brown cherry mx switches. It’s quite large (not good for travelling), but it feels so much better than my previous keyboard. It should help encourage me to write more.
Anyway, here’s the artwork from the techexpo. Some of it is from the event - there was a spot for me to setup at the Wacom booth. I let others have a go with my painting setup. The other drawings (figures) are from Reddit references.

This was drawn preconference. Rick and Morty mentioned at the top. I have no idea why because I don’t see any reference to them in this drawing.

This was drawn by those attending the Wacom booth. I like the cat and the squiggle - it looks like it turns into a signature.

The artist that was at the booth drew this - a portrait and dragon. Impressive - he did it with no reference. My no reference drawings are so much more basic. Oh well.

Circles attached to a range of shapes. Several basic portraits and characters.

Another cute animal drawing. This one looks like a pig. Some drawing of words. Hi Ben, and TK.

Drawing of an old flatmate in a bikini. The foreshorten was excellent - I had to draw it.

Two figures from Reddit. The poses were lying down. Their Reddit Usernames are underneath their figures.

Three figures. Focusing on the shape of the figure. The heads were cutoff so it forced me to focus on other areas.

Spikes.

Two figures. Stepsrcool gets a bonus drawings as I drew the figure reflection from the mirror. Mirrors offer extra practice! It also makes it easier to line things up.

Notes and drawings during the Wacom talk. It was great to meet staff from Wacom. They liked my setup and got a few photos of my setup. They were also good about letting me sit at their booth and draw - I would of left Techexpo much earlier if I couldn’t do this.

Created after govhack. There are talks of New Zealand splitting off from GovHack. I know there are issues, and the name is one of them. GovDev might be a better name. The fact they explain themselves because of the ‘hack’ in the name is not good.

AdamRichardson. Economics: Modelling Team. I like the strips on his tie.

There were certainly more diversity in the Economics team than management. This is Amy Rice. Economics: modelling team. Face is flat - the lighting was not string enough to show dark/light on the skin.

Another Amy. This time: Amy Wood. Economics: Forecast Team. Decided to do blog text. This would make it easier to paint over if I choose to do grayscale/color layers. The 4 suns in the sky have spikes coming out of them.

Anella Monro. Economics: Research Team. More could of been done in the background. The suns look a bit neglected.

Benjamin Wong. Economics: Research Team. Glasses were fun. The 5 suns have small spikes.

Jame Culling. Economics: Policy Analysis Team.

Random sketch of a robot. Similar background to recent works though.

Part two of my Reserve Bank portraits for GovHack. This is the management that I did not finish on the 2nd day of the events. I would like to continue these and draw researchers from RBNZ. This is all the management finished though.

Only two woman are on management. Glasses on this one. The last few portraits wore glasses which was fun to draw. Had issues with the neck but whatever. Beads are a big thing.

More hair than the previous. Caused a cut off of the forehead. Lindsay Jenkin. Head of Human Resources.

Ten suns. I had someone ask me at govhack why there were more than one suns. Fantasy. Mark Perry. His tie had a circle pattern so it matches the suns.

Mike Hannah did not shave this day. Beards are fun to draw though, this one isn’t long though. Head of Communication, Board Secretary.

Mike Wolyncewicz. Nothing on the background. This was the last portrait I drew at govhack so was very tired. He has a great smile. It was a challenge to draw!

Patrick Hoerler. Head of Risk Assessment and Assurance (RAA). Almost no hair so that made it each. Created water and hills but no suns.
